| About Us |
Make'em Listen - awesome, and so is our agenda.
Founded by a group of Bahamian musicians, producers, promoters, managers and other
creative talent, Make 'Em Listen is a movement with the following objectives:
1.Build
awareness and appreciation for mainstream music and other art forms by Bahamians
2.Provide a support network for artists and other creative talent
3.Fuel the creative
efforts of artists and others through unique collaborations, exposure and networking
We proudly support "Bahamian music". And we are thrilled that large numbers of Bahamians
enjoy mainstream music in addition to rake and scrape and goombay.
Make'Em Listen
exists to cultivate, promote and support mainstream art forms by Bahamians. Some
of our artists, for example, wield the power of R&B, reggae, hip hop, calypso, pop
and jazz just as well as others on the international stage. These Bahamians, until
now, have faced challenges in terms of acceptance by the wider community. Their
talent is unmatched. And their presence is unforgettable.
In the following statement
captures the energy and resilience of a Make'Em Listen supporter…
THE MOVEMENT IS BOLD, CREATIVE, BAHAMIAN AND POWERFUL. SUPPORT THE MOVEMENT!
"We will make
Bahamians hear us. We will make them respect our sounds, music, art and style. Irrespective
of genre, our music WILL be played on the radio and our artist WILL be engaged for
live performances. We WILL sell albums. WE WILL PUSH FOR CHANGE."
-Ronald Sutherland
"Make 'Em Listen is a movement to unite the Bahamian artists off all ages, in all mainstream genres ... The primary goal is to give unheard talent exposure, the youth themselves have an opportunity to make dreams into a reality, as well as the experienced have a chance to be a part of the team in it's growing process, and once again claim recognition while being involved in a positive project. With these joining forces, the Movement will succeed. This is where the natives take initiative and take advantage of networking. Anything is possible. Others will follow in our footsteps."
Peace.

'Make Em Listen''...I personally feel it is a movement. It has opened my mind to the point where i feel international acclimation is the next step for Bahamians, not only in muzik, but talent on the whole .I can feel the growth of the movement, the love people show as well as the support from each other .I am inspired now to venture more into the movement .. I feel the movement will open many doors for all alternative genres and bring more love to the world ... that is what we need right now!! Make Em Listen the movement in so such little time has elevated so rapidly the word has been getting around people are grasping and loving the hype..we gonna make this a big thing over here , we as artist*.

someone could have all da talent in da world and neva get heard...wat if niggaz like biggie and puff, jay, dame and biggs, pac and shock g, dre and em n' em and 50...what if dese niggaz neva was to link up?? think bout it...ya neva kno how it coulda pan out...but what i sayin is, erybody who tryin to get on need dat one platform so da world could realize their talents. comin from the bahamas, if it ain traditional or "caribbean", it aint always recognized...so its dat much harder for us and we gatta go dat much harder. to me, "Make Em Listen" is dat platform; talent, vision, ambition, and a wicked hustle to make it all come together. soon enough they ga know exactly whas gern on on dis side...we makin em listen.

Yeah this ya boy Puzzle, another home grown star from
the Bahamas. I'm very proud to annouce the Make Em
Listen Movement to the Bahamas and now to the World. If you
or anyone that you know is searching for new talent in the
Bahamas, Make Em Listen has become the key place
to look. I travel all around the world to perform on
shows , produce and song write for artists, to come
home and see that there is now a place where new
talent can , call home , be staged and discovered is a big step
forward.Upon my return I performed at one
of the MEL's events and was offered a big gig because
of it. MEL's about to produce a compilation album that
includes me (Puzzle) along with a few other Bahamain
producers and singers, yes this one will be off the
chain and all Bahamian ha ha.So... before I say to
much and let the cat out the bag, good luck to
everyone that's a part of this movement and let's
continue to make em listen!

MAKE EM LISTEN has been like finding lost family members. so many
artist coming together on one harmonious vibe! My hope is that it
helps to open the hearts and minds of the Bahamian public to be more
accepting of their own no matter the genre of music. Personally, it
has helped me to start viewing myself as an artist and not just as
'someone who sings'.
Keep movin' Make em Listen

I applaud the Make Em Listen movement for what it's tryin to do for Bahamian artists.
We gat alot of hidden gems in these islands, and MEL is a good platform for givin
these gems their time to shine. We could show Bahamians that we (Bahamians) gat
the talent, creativity, and passion to produce quality entertainment. Hoping to
do big things in the future.

It’s about time !!!!! ……. For a while many young Bahamians including myself have
been longing for the platform to be highlighted and make the public realize that
once its art/music written, sang, or produced by a Bahamian, ITS BAHAMIAN despite
the genre. I LOVE the traditional Rake n’ Scrape and Junkanoo, but there’s more
than that me and many others have to offer. Make ‘Em Listen is truly an eye opener
and breath of fresh air for our country. Some ask about the crime rate and fail
to realize that many young people express themselves through art. If given the choice,
they’re feelings wouldn’t be expressed on the streets, opinions wouldn’t have to
be stated and end up in violence, but our young Bahamians can put it on paper or
on a track. MEL has truly given me hope and an extended family of many others out
there on the same route to success. I aspire to attain a credible name in the entertainment
industry as a musician, and as the face of MEL I anticipate that we will go above
and beyond. This movement is togetherness, one success is all success. I’d like
to see this movement demand the attention of Bahamians and the international public.
I’ve personally played the part of trying to promote local talent through many organizations,
but one voice consisting of many is more effective than a single one. I look at
life in terms of music and I believe that the whole MEL team will create the rhythmic
harmonious sounds that will crescendo for we are tired of singing a cappella. Hopefully
soon enough we will modulate to be in an acceptable key to the public and have the
chance to MAKE ‘EM LISTEN!!!!!!!!! It’s not just a catch phrase or slogan but our
mission and ambition to make you believe and LISTEN...

The Make ‘Em Listen movement represents the voice of today’s Bahamian artist that
is non conventional, creative and “hungry for a platform to be heard”. It represents
an opportunity for us to cultivate and display our talents on a scale that surpasses
all standards and stereotypes previously set for us. We are the voice of a new breed
that endevuous to expand our borders beyond what our minds can conceive. Even more
than this, we are a group of people striving to be understood and appreciated by
our peers, our country folk and ultimately the world. The time has come my friends
for us to not only MAKE EM LISTEN, but to make them see….make them think….and make
them feel.

How did I stumbled across this site....I don't have the slightest idae. However, I am glad that I did.It is so great that Bahamian Artists can gel together and share their talents with each other and an audience. Undoubtably by the expressions on each artists face, they can sing, blow or bring the house down.Make 'Em Listen, Hats off to you for the investment in local talent. God Bless this your work and hope to see much more of it becoming main stream!PS. Keep me posted as to what events that you are showcasing! I will be there!
